We are excited to be introducing a new feature on the Facer platform today: the Smartwatch Tracker.
Inspired by Flickr’s Camera Finder, the Smartwatch Tracker leverages Facer’s vast trove of data to track the most popular smartwatch devices by OS, brand, and model. The charts and rankings will be updated weekly and will help our growing designer community get a better sense of where the smartwatch market is going so they can adapt their watch faces to it. More data points and watches will be added as well as they become available.
A few interesting tidbits of information:
- Samsung Tizen and Wear OS (the OS formerly know as Android Wear) are neck and neck with Google’s platform leading by a slight margin increasing in recent weeks.
- Samsung dominates the charts by brand and by model with their Samsung Gear S3. The more recent Samsung Gear Sport is lagging a bit behind, possibly due to its narrower fitness-focused target market.
- Mobvoi’s Ticwatch Express seeing a lot of success despite being a relatively new entrant in the Wear OS market
